Financial Operations Lead
We're more than just a workplace. We know that finding a meaningful and rewarding job can be a long journey.
Role Overview
The FinOps Lead is a senior position within the Finance team, accountable for supporting the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of Mumzworld's financial operations. The role supports the design and governance of financial processes and controls as an individual contributor, works closely across finance operations, and gives the function head and senior leadership the insights they need to make strategic and operational decisions.
The ideal candidate comes from an internal audit background, with a strong grounding in risk, controls, and process reviews, and is now ready to apply that expertise as an independent contributor to strengthen financial operations in a fast-paced, high-growth e-commerce environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Financial Operations Agenda & Strategy: Support the end-to-end financial operations agenda, including contributing to the roadmap for process design, optimization, and scalability as the business grows. Independently lead the identification of process gaps and drive the delivery of solutions from recommendation through to implementation.
Financial Controls & Governance: Help maintain the internal control framework, including policies, procedures, and Risk Control Matrices. Execute gap assessments, support remediation plans, and act as a key technical point of contact for internal and external auditors to ensure strong governance and compliance.
Risk-Based Process Reviews: Apply an internal audit approach to independently review key financial and operational processes, such as procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, inventory, and record-to-report. Assess control design and operating effectiveness, perform controls testing, and track audit findings through to closure.
Financial Analysis & Strategic Insights: Execute financial analysis, reporting, and performance management frameworks. Present insights and recommendations to the function head and senior management to influence strategic and commercial decisions.
Automation & Finance Systems: Help shape and drive the finance automation and systems strategy. Support the selection, implementation, and optimization of financial systems, reporting tools, and automation platforms to improve efficiency and scalability.
Independent Execution & Deliverables: Take individual ownership of key finance initiatives and deliverables. Set clear personal objectives, self-manage priorities, and promote a culture of personal accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a dedicated finance business partner to Operations, Technology, and Commercial leaders. Align priorities, resolve complex issues, and ensure that cross-functional initiatives are delivered successfully.
Finance Transformation Support: Support finance transformation programs and strategic projects, including planning, stakeholder management, resource alignment, and delivery against agreed outcomes.
What You'll Need
Experience
The Foundation: 6+ years of post-qualification experience, with a strong background in internal audit (Big 4 risk advisory or in-house internal audit). Experience independently driving audit engagements, projects, or complex control reviews.
The Background: Experience auditing or working within consumer-focused businesses, e-commerce, FMCG, retail, or high-growth environments is strongly preferred. Exposure to finance operations or business finance beyond audit is a plus.
The Track Record: Proven experience executing end-to-end internal audits, preparing Risk Control Matrices, performing controls testing, and driving remediation with process owners. Familiarity with frameworks such as COSO, ICFR, or SOX is highly desirable, as is experience turning audit findings into lasting process improvements.
Qualification
Education: CA / CPA / ICAEW / ACCA qualification required. A CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or similar audit certification is a strong advantage, and an MBA is a plus.
Analytical & Technical Capability: Expert financial analysis and modelling skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Hands-on experience with ERP systems, BI and reporting tools, and automation platforms is expected, and SQL knowledge is a strong plus.
Mindset & Skills
Risk & Control Mindset: Brings an auditor's eye for risk, a habit of asking why, and the judgment to balance strong controls with business agility.
Strategic Thinking: Able to see beyond day-to-day operations and help shape a long-term vision for a scalable, efficient finance function.
Analytical Excellence: Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to turn complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership audiences.
Ownership & Accountability: Takes full individual ownership of outcomes, manages competing priorities, and delivers results in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Influence & Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to challenge and influence at senior levels.
Individual & Collaborative Attributes
Self-Driven Professional: Operates with autonomy, self-motivates, and continuously invests in personal professional growth while supporting peers.
Continuous Improvement Champion: Sets the standard for operational excellence and drives a culture of improvement, control, and efficiency across the function.
Trusted Business Partner: Works directly with the function head and senior leaders across the business to align priorities, solve complex problems, and drive execution.
