Category Manager – Baby Gear & Nursery
We're more than just a workplace. We know that finding a meaningful and rewarding job can be a long journey.
Role Overview
The Category Manager – Baby Gear & Nursery is a key commercial role within the Category team. You are responsible for growing sales revenue and profit across one of Mumzworld’s most important categories. It covers strollers, car seats, baby carriers, cribs and cots, high chairs, nursery furniture, bedding, and baby monitors and safety products.
You own the category P&L and lead strategy, range planning, vendor negotiations, pricing, stock health and campaigns. You work closely with Marketing, Logistics, Tech, Customer Care and the Warehouse to deliver an outstanding experience for parents across the region.
The ideal candidate has a buying, category or key account background in e-commerce or retail. They bring strong negotiation skills and a data-driven approach, and they understand that baby gear is a considered, trust-driven purchase where safety and quality come first.
What You’ll Be Doing
Category Strategy & Range Planning: Build and implement a productive category strategy and range plan across the site. Identify growth opportunities by sub-category, brand and price tier, and keep the range competitive, curated and relevant to parents’ needs.
P&L Ownership & Commercial Performance: Take full responsibility for the category P&L, maximizing sales revenue, gross margin and profitability. Analyze and report on category performance, and contribute to planning, trading and sales meetings with clear insights on trade and trends.
Vendor Negotiation & Partnerships: Negotiate contracts, commercial terms, promotions and seasonal activities with brand partners and distributors. Build strong relationships with key vendors to secure investment, and sell e-commerce features and placements to maximize other income.
Brand Sourcing & Onboarding: Analyze market trends to source and onboard new brands and products. Bring in emerging names, exclusive launches and innovative products that strengthen Mumzworld’s position as the leading destination for baby gear.
Stock Planning & OTB Management: Plan, monitor and manage stock in collaboration with the Logistics department to keep inventory healthy against agreed KPIs. Manage open-to-buy (OTB) carefully, which matters especially for bulky, high-value items where aged stock is costly.
Availability & Pricing: Ensure strong availability across KVIs and SKVIs in line with KPI targets. Implement the pricing strategy, carry out regular competitor analysis to spot opportunities and risks, and flag pricing risks early.
Campaigns & Marketing: Coordinate weekly and monthly marketing activities with the Marketing department. Help strategize, plan and execute category campaigns, seasonal moments and major sale events that drive profitable sell-through.
Category Merchandising & Customer Experience: Work with Tech and Marketing to make navigation through the website and app seamless. Ensure products are presented with accurate specifications, strong imagery, and compatibility and size guidance, so parents can make informed decisions.
Product Safety & Compliance: Ensure all products meet the relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements in each market, particularly car seats, cribs and other safety-critical items. Work with vendors and internal teams on certifications, labelling and any product recalls.
Operational Problem Solving: Coordinate with Customer Care and the Warehouse to resolve enquiries and issues quickly. Use returns data and customer feedback to improve the range and reduce repeat problems.
Reporting & Communication: Communicate and report all key category information, risks and results to the Manager in a clear and timely way.
